Maddison Rae Maes and Mason David Maes are finally here!! The babies were welcomed to the world on September 2nd, 2009. Mason came first at 9:33 and Maddison followed right behind at 9:34. This was not the due date that we expected, we were scheduled to go in for surgery on September 14th but when I went in for a doplar test the doctor said it was time NOW!! So I called Jared and he rushed to my side. We ended up spending the night in the hospital and delivarying the next morning.
The surgery was quick we were in and out in about 30 minutes. Jared was in surgery with me and my sister chelsea was also there. We were lucky enough to have chels there to get it all on video. Jared got to hold Mason for the first time in the O.R.. The nurse and jared brought both babies over to me while i was still on the table. I didn't get to hold them for a while but it was great to see both their smiling faces. The rest of the day we rested and recovered from surgery. Everyone was very supportive and the babies were tucked in tight.
The babies were both very small, Mason's weight was 4lbs 12ounces and Maddison was much smaller at 3lbs 4ounces. Due to them coming early Maddison has to be hooked up to machines to help her with her oxygen intake and her blood sugar content. Both of them have machines keeping track of their breathing and heart rate. They will have to be in the hospital for a few weeks but that will just give Jared and I a chance to get to know them better and to learn more about how to be good parents! We have multiple doctors and nurses checking in with us through out the day...some to update us on the growth of the babies and some to teach us different techniques on feeding, sleeping and basic skills on babies.
We are enjoying the time we have spent together learning and getting to know our beautiful bundles of joy. We know that once we leave the hospital we will be on our own with no help from doctors or nurses so we are trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible now. We are so happy that the babies are finally hear and we are excited to spend each and every day with them. We have had so much support and love from friends and family it truely has been a blessing!!!!
